Waking up the morning after a concert
with my ears ringing and my neck feeling
like I got whiplash in a head-on car collision
is not my favorite way to start the
day, but some people still desire to throw
their spinal column out of whack occasionally.
For those of you who can't get
enough head-banging action, you can't
miss Silencer at the Bluebird Theatre at 9
pm tonight. Silencer's thrashing metal
beats will whip you into a frenzy of head
shaking madness. With guests Nuk-L-Hed
and Clusterfux, you'll do enough
damage to become a preferred customer
at your chiropractor. Tickets are only $5,
so everyone can afford the show ... you
just might not be able to afford the after
effects. Enjoy!

Experiencing a Hazel Miller concert is
quickly becoming a requirement for
being a "local" in this town so bombarded
by newcomers. Like having a 303 area
code (the only purpose 720 serves is to
point out transplants and cell phone
addicts), throwing a Miller ticket stub in
your wallet is a badge of belonging. After
all, this remarkable singer has been one
of Denver's most-publicized best-kept
secrets for years. She appears tonight at
the Gothic with scene veterans the Ryan
Tracy Band. --Chris J. Magyar

I once knew a girl who claimed Guinness
is the perfect drink to wash down any
meal, but she said the problem is that
nothing washes down a Guinness. She
just wasn't creative enough in her thinking.
You don't settle a Guinness in your
stomach with water or liquor or (worst of
all) lite beer ... you wash it down with
another Guinness, and a heaping helping
of Blarney blaring in your ears. So grab a
pint, because The Chieftains are coming
to the Paramount Theatre to chase your
stout the way it was meant be chased. Just
don't sing along until they ask you to ...
these blokes are professionals. --CJM

You're counting the days until it's safe to
wear white pants. (Hope you can count
real high.) You're thumbing through
every catalog you can find to see hints of
the spring line. You're finding yourself
using words like "retro chic" and "futuristic
but functional." It's time to get you
some help. The Spring 2001 Fashion
Runway Report, put on by Fashion
Group International of Denver, will set
your buzzing mind at ease with a comprehensive
slide show and discussion
detailing the spring season trends. In typical
fashionista speak, the show is titled,
"What's New, What's Hot, What's Next."
The show will be at Boulderdash in
Cherry Creek at 6: 30 pm Tickets are $25
unless you have a friend of a friend, and
reservations can be made by dialing 303-
388-9858. CJM
