Monday is always the best day to see movies. You can catch first run flicks only a day after opening weekend with-out the crowds or the lines or the scream-ing babies. Selecting which movie to see, well, that's another hassle you can't shake no matter what day it is. You could listen to the select few critics in town (might I suggest ours?), or you could log on to www.rottentomatoes.com and get the overall picture as presented by virtually every critic in the land. Rotten Tomatoes compiles hundreds of online, TV, and print reviews to arrive at one simple, final judgement for each new movie: is it fresh, or is it rotten? --Chris J. Magyar

Can you already cook to impress? Or is your idea of haute cuisine a can of cold Spaghetti-O's and half a can of Keystone Light? Either way, swing by Trios in Boulder on February 20 for a gourmet food demonstration and sampling, conducted by John Trejo, the restaurant's executive chef. Trejo will teach you how to prepare a four-course dinner--he hasn't yet decided what style of cuisine, so keep your mind peeled--and how to compliment it with an appropriate wine. Of course, the best part is that you can eat the results. The demonstration will begin at 6: 30 pm, cost $25, and only reservations will be accepted. Call Trios at 303-442-8400 to save a seat. --Alex Neth

Nobody was quite sure what to make of Spike Lee's latest effort, Bamboozled. Is its portrayal of a successful modern-day blackface television show appropriately biting, or just downright degrading? Is he landing a timely wallop on the entertainment industry for its marginalization of black and minority talent? Or is he simply blowing everything way out of proportion? Decide for yourself tonight at the Mayan Theatre as the Denver Pan-African Film Festival presents this strangely conflicted film. Tickets are $10. Call 303-2293-2665 for more information. --CJM
