Tonight's the night. Ozzfest has received
more than its share of publicity here for
the scheduled performance of Marilyn
Manson. We'll see if Armageddon comes
or not. If you have tickets, try to keep in
mind that the real headliner for this event
is the second reunion of Black Sabbath (a
band that's been through its share of controversial
Christian boycotts back in the
day).

Space Gallery, on 2026 Larimer, will be
hosting a reception for photographer
Amy Marinelli tonight, 7 p. m. to midnight.

Ireland, will share wall space with works
by Chris Fuller, Gerry Albanese, and
Michael Burnett. Preacher Boy will be on

Is 9-year-old Jenny Tsveleva a protege or
just another privileged fourth grader getting
high exposure? Find out for yourself
at University Park Gallery's opening
tonight from 6 to 9 pm, at 2170 S.
Josephine St. Artists Harlane Chase,
Atalia Vinnla, and Nancy Wylie will also
be represented.

If you need an excuse to renew your
romantic vows, and have a penchant for
frills, try the Larkspur Renaissance
Festival today, where the theme will be
romance and love. If declaring fealty to
your lover while standing next to Yendor
the Wizard and Cobweb the Elf doesn't
float your boat, this year the festival has
added a climbing wall for the adventure
seeking SCA-head. Just go south on I-25
until you're in the middle of nowhere,
then follow the signs.

This is a good night to check out the new
club at 60 S. Broadway, as Lip Gloss will
be pumping up the masses with comrades
Tim Cook, Tyler Jacobson, and special
guest Mystery John.

McDonough's Irish Pub (10395 East Iliff
Avenue near Havana) will host a concert to
benefit the Make A Wish Foundation
tonight at 8 pm Featured singer/ songwriters
include such Nashville stars as
Rob Crosby, Jon Vezner and Billy
Montana. Crosby is most famous for
"She's More" (as performed by Andy
Griggs). Vezner is Kathy Mattea's husband,
and wrote her hit "Where've You
Been." Montana has done work for
numerous country superstars such as Tim
McGraw, Kenny Rogers, and Lee Ann
Womack. In country music especially, the
songwriters are the source of the talent,
and are often overlooked. Only $10 will
contribute to this worthy cause, and your
knowledge of America's most popular
music genre.

refreshments. The Bug, if this is only

Wanda Winnebago is back! Roger
Beauchamp and John Ankerpoint have
been putting on the weird and wacktastic
Mystery Sandbox Theater puppet performances
for more than two years now,
and each one is better than the last. One
of these days, Tim Burton will show up
and find himself home. This show,
Monsters Roaring, promises to be a
"greatest hits" with a generous helping of
new material to keep things fresh. The
show starts at 7 p. m., is only $7, and
there's always a chance to win some creative
door prizes. Gallery 13 is at 1215 E.
13th Ave. For ticket information, call
303-863-8800.

Get ready for a hip hop explosion.

luminaries as Tymme & Aury Reitz (choreographers
for Will Smith, Madonna,
Backstreet Boys, and others), Gary
Kendall, and Micaya. Admission is only

High School (1640 Arapahoe in Boulder)
in the auditorium.

You can stop thinking of her as James
Taylor's daughter now. Boulder-based
Sally Taylor is fully in her own as a
musician and songwriter, with a brand
new album (her third) due out soon, titled
Shotgun. Her concert tonight is at
Mishawaka Amphitheater near Fort
Collins (
www.mishawakaconcerts.com
for directions), possibly the best venue
nobody's heard of in the state. The show
starts at 3 pm, so dress lightly, and arrive
early. For more information, call 970-482-4420.
Monday July 2, 2001
It's another one of those incredible $5
movies at Red Rocks tonight. This time,
the big big big screen will host
Independence Day (gee, why'd they pick
that one?) and be opened with the music
of Brethren Fast. This deal's almost too
good to be true, even if you think the
movie sucks.
Tuesday July 3, 2001
One critic remarked that Air has single
handedly restored respectibility to the
country of France-- as it pertains to popular
music, at least. While that's debatable,
Air certainly is one of the hottest
technofluenced bands on the circuit right
now, so tonight's show at the Ogden is a
must for people who insist on "seeing
them first." Tickets are $25.
Wednesday July 4, 2001
Time to break out the apple pie and barbecue.
Also, time to indulge in some serious
pyromania. Oh, sure, it's illegal to do
the celebratory firework thing in Denver,
but you'll find the nearby counties much
more accomodating (which is ironic,
since they also tend to contain more flammable
brush than the city). Take a late
night road trip east on I-70 and have as
much fun as you can without setting some
poor farmer's crops ablaze.
