In true rock band fashion, the guys from Ignite were late. So we took our seats and ordered some chips, salsa and guac. I don't even like guacamole, but this stuff was the great. I took the time to find out the drink specials. Imagine my glee when I found they had something for every day of the week. Monday --a bucket of Mexican beer for $10. Tuesday. $2 Long Islands . Wednesday. $1.99 Cuervo Margaritas. Thursday. two-for-one Cuervo Gold margs. Friday and Saturday from 10 pm to close, $2 wells and $ 3 you call. Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, it's build your own Bloody Mary with top shelf vodka, $3.50. Aye, Caramba! Mi cuolo es muy grande! Sorry about that. Back to the review.

Lo and behold, the guys from Ignite were walking up the sidewalk. The new guitarist and half- brother of Tommy Lee was looking a little haggard from the show at the Bluebird. Nonetheless , they were ready to get their eat on. I ordered the super dip nachos with pollo as an appetizer. (Pollo is Spanish for chicken, yo.) The nachos came out quick --a mountain of refried beans topped with green chile, melted Chihuahua cheese and roasted bell peppers. The band dug in and we got ready to order.

Zoli (the singer) went for the smothered ribeye plate. Oh yeah, grilled choice ribeye smothered in tomatillo sauce and melted Chihuahua cheese, served with Mexican rice, refried beans and warm tortillas. Bret (Mr. Bass Player) had the carneasada; another ribeye grilled to perfection with tomatoes, onions and fresh jalapenos, served with Mexican rice, beans, pico de gallo, avocado slices, lettuce and tortillas. Craig (the drummer) ordered the steak fajitas. He knew the big trick--if they don't come out sizzling, they aren't fresh. He was not disappointed. That gets us to Alex (the new guitar player and king of the million-dollar quote.) He had the wings and I -25 combo --a smothered beef and bean burrito, crispy beef taco, cheese enchilada and tostada. The guys inhaled their free food, only stopping to talk about who knows more about Van Halen and Rush, Zoli or Craig. Everybody loved their food.

The food was out standing, the service impeccable, across the board. The best part for me was knowing that I was sending this band on a sixteen-hour drive with a gut full of Mexican food. Can you smell the humor in that ?
